Volunteers
Here at St John’s, we understand the value that can be added to our school by opening our doors to volunteers. We welcome parents, grandparents, student teachers, students on placements from secondary school and sporting organisations to come to our school.
Under the guidance of teachers we really appreciate any help with:
-
Listening to children read
-
Helping children using the computers and searching the internet.
-
Helping and supervising baking and craft activities
-
Helping out on school visits and trips
-
Helping run an After School club.
-
Helping out in class.
-
Helping run our Parent of Deepcar Students, who plan fundraising events for our school.
We also welcome volunteers who would like to help out in the school grounds with weeding, pruning or planting. If you would like to help out in anyway at school, please contact our school office on 0114 288 3878.
All helpers/volunteers working with children need to work within earshot/sight of a teaching member of staff. Under requirements of the Children’s Act helpers must undertake a Disclosure Barring Check if working with children on a regular basis.
